Annabel Karmel’s Teddy Bear Tomato Pasta
Who knew that pasta could look so cute…and tasty!
MAKES: 4 portions
Ingredients
2 tbsp olive oil
1 onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, crushed
2 x 400g tins chopped tomatoes
2 tbsp tomato puree
Dash of sugar
300g fresh tagliatelle pasta
Mozzarella ball
Pitted black olives
Basil
Method
Heat the oil in a large saucepan. Add the onion and garlic and fry for 5 minutes. Add the chopped tomatoes and purée. Simmer for 15 minutes, until the sauce has reduced to a thick consistency. Add the sugar, and season well.
Cook the pasta in boiling water according to the packet instructions, then drain.
Put the tomato sauce into a bowl. Shape the pasta into a ball and place it on top to make the bear’s face. Make two smaller balls and place on top to make the ears. Put two small Mozzarella balls on for the eyes.
Add slices of olives for the pupils. Use a round slice of Mozzarella for the face, and add olives for the nose and mouth. Garnish with basil leaves for a stylish finish!
